The Conference Call Money Machine

Over the last year and a half I have enjoyed reading the thoughts of Mr. IQD, a fellow guru-basher who shares my contempt for gurus even if he might not share my views on the eventual outcome of the IQD.  He was ahead of me on the shenanigans and eventual indictment of the BH Group.  He's also been following the BS of TonyTNT and the Reno scam more closely than I have and for that I applaud him.

Mr. IQD has shared a few of my posts with his readers on occasion and was kind enough to link to my blog and send some traffic my way.  I'd like to return the favour at this time by pointing out some excellent observations in a recent post on his site.

Every once in awhile somebody will ask me about the motivation for people who do conference calls.  The assumption (I think) is that these gurus just do these calls to be helpful in sharing the information that they've collected after hours of diligent research and intel gathering all day long.  But a recent post at MrIQD sheds a lot of light on this enterprise.  Check it out.

  1. Wow, I had no idea they had 1000s of people on these calls. So I figured they are making money somehow, but I didn't realize just how much.

  2. I'm not convinced that they get that many callers but I have zero evidence to back those numbers up as does "upstate" who provided the information. That person is assuming so based on what was mentioned on the call. But here is why I have my reservations about those numbers. A few times when I listened to the recordings of The Gatekreepers, IQD Team, TerryK, and one other I can't seem to remember at this point, they all fluffed their call volume numbers among the phone mods because they would state different numbers and of course the one who mentioned the larger volume would always attribute it to "well board one is full and there are more on the backup boards...." and the other momos would agree as if to say oh yeah you're right. How can all of the phone mods not see all of the board info? Simple. They do that as a typical pumper move to display they have a large following and a large following usually indicates a trustworthy individual therefore the word should get out that this is the call to be on.

One day I called Vic (the gatekreepers) out on the big discrepancy of Whiskey6 stating 2,000 on the call and Vic rushed to correct him that it was 5,000 on the call. Then another day Vic stated a different number from the previous call being much larger than he stated on the actual call so I guess he forgot his lie. LOL!! Yeah typical guru pumper stupidity.

    1. Thanks for your perspective, Vinny. I question the numbers these guys put out, too. Once I was listening to TerryK and he said they had 20,000 callers. I said "either he's lying his arse off or there's a lot more stupid people out there than I imagined." Well, maybe it's a combination of the two. Regardless of the caller volume it seems clear that there's money to be made with these calls, which would explain why they do them so often (and go on for hours) whether they have anything to say or not. Some of these calls they don't even talk about the dinar. They talk about the bible and Obama and the NWO and space aliens ....etc. .

    2. Agreed! They aren't committing to multiple calls weekly for no financial gain.

    1. Oh noooo never!! LOL

After all they claim they aren't gurus because they don't provide rates and dates. But they sure as hell allude to them clearly.

Vic's favorite line is news article states "reduce 4 billion to 1 billion which is pretty clear". That's exactly what he's saying is that the rate is $4 as he's stated being his personal belief and not a rate he would quote. Well Mr Vic, if you didn't want it to be misconstrued as a rate prediction why state it on the call. Joeys favorite is "June 30, 2013 is just a date that I've loved and now that they are speaking if tariffs being implemented and chapter 7 sanctions removed who knows what could happen."

  4. Even if you didn't know how, common sense would tell you that these scammers are making money off these calls. Nobody is going to spend hours of their time talking senselessly on the phone for nothing. But, then again, common sense does seem in short supply in the dinar world.

    AND OUT OF THE 80K

  6. What makes people think that if there was any legitimate intelligence on an alleged cloak-and-dagger GCR event that the high ups would place the privileged information directly into the hands of a known felon with pending fraud charges? When does common sense prevail? It doesn't. Common sense is left in great abundance at the gate when you enter the Dinar theme park.

I still listen to few people who got me swept up in this scam from time to time, and naturally they scoff at the truth when I present the facts. They insist my solid facts debunking the RV are propaganda put forth by the Government to prevent an overabundance of millionaires when it finally pops. I doubted the whole thing from the flop, but was counterintuitively swept up by their excitement and faith in the investment. Finally I decided to invest four hundred between the Dong and Dinar, going against my better judgement based on the "what if" factor and ultimately deciding "I better have at least one horse in the race ... just in case". I'm glad my "investment" in this ruse was merely a drop in the bucket compared to my friends. They are STILL buying more. As the weeks roll by the full brilliance of this scam continues to reveal itself and you can't help but marvel at how good of a scam this actually is. Playing into the Faith of Christians? Come on, someones going to Hell. And I guarantee the bulk of Dinar Investors are senior citizens as well.

I wonder how many years of doing conference calls and getting the same recycled "Intel" it takes for the average "investor" to realize the truth. Better ask the Tootsie Pop owl.

    3. For every disenchanted dinarian, there are one or two new ones to replace him. That's how this scam perpetuates. That why the headlines at DinarDaddy and other message boards always talk about the "imminent" and "any day now" RV. The goal is to move people off the fence. They don't want to give them time to think about it or research it. They know if they wait, they likely won't buy. They want them to feel like it's almost too late. They don't care if people find out later it's a scam. They need to give them a sense of urgency to buy now. They are appealing to the uninitiated and ignorant. Unfortunately, it's a very effective technique. It worked on most of us.

      Delete
    4. Networth you're right. A dinar holder friend of mine who's been pumping this stuff to anyone he trusts informed a coworker in 2012 that of course it was imminent so the poor sucker spent the weekend in NYC trying to find a bank that may be open to sell but not only were banks not selling it was a weekend also. Dude practically slept outside one on Sunday night in addition to ordering from Sterling Currency. Poor sap didnt know how foolish and greedy he looked. Don't know if he's still in the poison scam but that sure was a sad story to hear.

      Delete
    5. Nailed it in one networth. It's the combination of the sense of urgency and the claim to "secrecy" that's the glue that holds it all together.

Next question : How much is James Wolf (Adam Montana) making off his VIP services?...

      Delete
    6. Answer: Less than he was two years ago. ;-)

At one time he claimed to have 1000 VIP members, so at $200/yr that would be $200,000/yr. But his numbers dropped drastically after he was exposed as a high school dropout with a history of running a porn site. He's probably still got 50-100 in his VIP program so my guess is $10K-$20K.

    7. So basically if you don't mind exploiting the hopes and dreams of the desperate and ignorant masses then there is money to be made.

Great point, networth. All they need is to hook that newcomer with the "RV Tomorrow" nonsense and their job is done. But what makes a self-proclaimed "Guru" the unprecedented monster is that his job has only just begun. Being a sociopath with no burden of a conscience, the "Guru" operates with an insatiable greed that enables him to squeeze every last drop out of each investor until there is nothing left to squeeze, at which time he bans the old host from his forum and feeds on a new host. The "Guru" cannot be satisfied with new customers, he dreams of return customers and a Dinar mansion himself. The only difference is that his Dinar mansion is paid for with the money and psychological damages of his investor.

Please refer to the definition of a parasite: Parasitism is a non-mutual symbiotic relationship between species, where one species (Guru), the parasite, benefits at the expense of the other (Investor), the host.

      One and the same.

    1. Yea LGD is sort of the sectarian version of dontlop. Dontlop thinks the RV will happen because the mighty and all powerful "the powers that be" (queue scary music) are unconstrained by mere arithmetic and can if they wish transfer the worlds wealth to Iraq, which somehow will benefit them of course though just how (since they already own everything) is never made clear. LGD is much the same, but he gets his instructions straight from God in the form of seeing news on Iraq after praying if he should invest in dinars or some such thing (not a specific quote just an example). The entire process of thinking the thoughts in your head are a good indication of reality just boggles my mind. Its a bit scary too as folks like this can not be reasoned with as reason plays no role in their decision making. The problems our civilization faces can not be solved with this sort of mindset.

  9. Last week I tried to sell back the last of my Dinar to Treasury Vault where I had sold some last month. They would not respond to my emails and when I called, their voice mail box was full.

After watching and reading the National news, I truly believe that Iraq will be taken over by Terrorist in the near future. The violence is getting worst everyday. When it happens the Dinar will be worthless. And you can bet that the Dealers and Banks will stop buying back before then and without notice.

If you still have Dinar, I suggest that you sell it ASAP. Even at $800 per million or less. It's still a lot better than nothing. Remember how urgent it was to buy it? Same goes for getting rid of it!

A local Bank did buy back the last on mine yesterday. The Manager told me that I would not believe how many have fell for this SCAM.They quit selling it a 1 1/2 years ago and he said people still come in and get mad when they can't buy it. If you are a newcomer to this site. Please read the (What'd I say?) page on this site. And sell back your Dinar today before it's to late!

Thanks Sam! Keep up the good work.

    1. Interesting that the bank would buy it back if they do not offer it. What rate did they give you?

Just curious, as I sold all mine a couple of years ago just a couple of months after buying it when the Koolaid fog lifted. I sold it to individuals on e-bay. Interestingly I did my best to convince each buyer that they were making a big mistake, that it can not go up in value etc but only managed to turn away one interested party, the others insisted they understood and forked over the cash.

    4. There is a (I think largely sarcastic) thread over there about Adam announcing something big, so that is perhaps what he was referencing. I wouldn't worry about the price either. I'd pay 1 cent, 5 cents or even 10 cents a piece for them. After all, if they're going to be worth so much more, why quibble over a few pennies? I'd buy the entire inventory of the dealers and banks. I'd mortgage my house and borrow every single dollar I could to buy dinar. I certainly wouldn't waste my time on a message board gloating about an event that hasn't occurred yet. I'd spend that valuable time amassing a dinar inventory. Good luck with that. Check back in with us paupers tomorrow and let us know what color you picked out for your maserati. LOL!

Pretty soon the dinar dealers will be paying these suckers to take the dinar off their hands so they can close up shop without a hitch.

  12. Here is more of poopy3 unfounded fairy tale posts from their website called the observer. It was posted by him on a site open to the public.
Poppy3 - I want to dispell some rumors. There is no Marshal Law in Iraq and there is no celebrating in the streets and the people were not told anything about the RV in the mosques like is being reported. Here is some good news. I got a text that Ban Ki Moon has arrived in Iraq and Monday is now declared a holiday. We wonder why? Also, the date is correct on the CBI and yet there are no buy and sell rates listed. This is very exciting to me.

I had it reported to me by 3 sources to be on high alert. One of the sources told me definitely within the month of January and the other 2 told me that this week is prime time. We also know that primary dates for banking in Iraq and around the globe is the 1st and the 15th. This coming Wednesday is the 15th. This could be one of the reasons for “prime time” this week. We are in a great position. Let’s hope all these signs are all related to the RV. The news is lining up step by step.

  13. Hello clan. I've been sitting back quietly for about two months since I found this blog just reading topics and comments on a site I THOUGHT was serious about banishing the RV but what I've come to learn is that it is really no different than the sites you guys bash like DV with behavior as such. Seemingly it is the same ole bunch of yahoos (for the most part not all) spending what appears to be a good portion of the day practically everyday yapping and poking fun at the other half of the "Dinar RV". So aside from the valid arguments presented by some here debunking the investment as a scam, the majority of the others just bring over commentary to blurt out irrelevant jargon. After reading through a lot of the interesting information posted by Sam from 2+ yrs ago with a clear goal in mind, to me this site has evolved into a soap box. What I'm gathering from the topics and commentary for the last 2-3 months is that many of you here have been injured so bad after the truth was discovered that you have found an avenue to get revenge with the gurus and pumpers by carrying on childishly alike. Furthermore, Sam has mentioned on more than one occasion that the traffic is up on this site which I presume is probably a revenue generator for him as the guru pumpers / conference calls generate them revenue and by posting this topic it raises questions in my mind as well if this is site is driven by financial agenda as well.

I'm not here to stir waves or debate economics because the information presented here by some is pretty solid. There just appears to be to faces so-to-speak to this site. Trolls are allowed to return after banning them but after watching the pattern of behavior by many of this site retaliating with attacks against the troll (rightfully so in my opinion) which certainly generates more traffic just solidifies the concern.

Btw, before I get hacked to pieces as a TROLL I also am of the belief that no one will get rich or most likely even not make a dime on this investment unless you purchased your dinar early on and have sold it in the last 2yrs or perhaps even now.

    1. jimmie - The difference between my site and DV is that I don't lie about being a Harvard grad who made money on the Kuwaiti dinar in order to sell VIP and books and post-RV crap. If my site was driven by financial agenda I'd have a monthly fee or I'd be doing conference calls or I'd register a domain name and cram the site full of ads. Sure, I'm happy when the traffic approaches 2,000 hits a day. I make a little more money (which still isn't much) but more than that I realize that my message is getting through to more people. As for returning trolls, I don't have the ability to ban individuals with this blog program. My options are to either put all comments on moderation or delete posts by trolls. And as for dinarck and others who vent about the scammers and their groupies, I've made my wishes known but I also understand the frustration they feel from the devestation caused by this scam. So I cut them some slack. I think your point might have some merit though, so why don't you set an example and show us how to properly address the hype and nonsense rather than pompously denouncing this blog as the moral equivalent of a pumper site?

I was going to say about the same thing and I too thought "Caz" as soon as I read his post, I won't say this is Caz because I myself have been wrongfully accused of being other people (in most cases I considered it an honor however!) and I certainly have no way of knowing other than to compare writing styles. This site is the best place for REAL information about what is going on in this huge scam. The reason why I am finally writing this now is because I completely agree with Dinarck. I have seen so much tragedy in this scam personally that it makes me sick. I appreciate a place that not only allows the truth, and tells the truth but a place where we can take out some frustration that we have building up over the shear stupidity and waste that is going on in this fantasy world of RV. I keep hearing coworkers and some ex-military folk talk about this dinar stuff so curious minds do wander which forced me to do some poking around. To me it all sounds like a desperate person or fools paradise. All of the information I've read is all contradictory as simple as "it's a secret that only some select few or blessed are privy to" yet there is tons of info on the net so it must not be that hush hush. As well there are many,if any banks, not selling or buying this Iraq currency. Also what is it with so many sites and conference calls? I've invested in many stock and companies don't hold stockholder meetings very often nonetheless everyday. This is all hogwash but comically entertaining.

I like your site and much of the topics presented. The John Jagerson videos and interview were right on the mark. Good work!

I think we are all happy to know that traffic is up, well at least those of us who are here for reasons other than to troll! Still even the trolls are serving a purpose even if it's not what they intend, by their pathetic attempts at disruption they have not only managed to create discussion that has laid out the truth for new visitors to see but they have also exposed themselves and their cronies for the frauds they are, "Jimmie", Caz or whoever he is is a prime example. Over at DV their belligerence and insults might be seen by some as "standing up" for a positive attitude while here it is clearly exposed as nothing more than a childish reaction to the frustration at seeing this thing exposed for the scam it is, they can't stop it so they lash out at those who would spread the truth!

Also it's good to know that these people from DV are indeed coming here!

    1. DV, CAZ?! Chalk it up to once again being wrong. Obviously my observations and views are off from what you and dinarck agree with but that's not important. Sam has already cleared that up and I accept his response so there is no further argument or debate that needs to take place on my post. But I had to respond to this accusation of yours because it is inaccurate and is one of the components of behavior I see going on in threads here by some like yourself as you've publicly admitted in the past. This is the sort of content and/or behavior I was comparing to other dinar sites meaning posting information without evidence.

Anyhow I'm just gonna sit back and watch the threads as I was then post only when I have verifiable relevant information not gripes or concerns because people easily get attacked here like other sites and it's obviously allowed. So no need to respond to this any further.

So now you want to equate me to someone else that has injured your juvenile feelings. boo hoo hoo.... I see how your gullible mind has once again failed you like when you fell for the dinar scammers lies"

You come here with a holier than thou attitude and then you do EXACTLY the same thing with a childish post such as that? Your arrogance and childish attitude right from your first post gives you away for the troll you are, come on back when you grow up and can act like an adult.

Obviously you have not grown up because all you care about is who is staying in the investment or not. Do you not have a life besides sitting on your computer all day awaiting every comment posted just to spew your replays?! Or we're you so embedded into the dream you just can't seem to let go of the old trash posting habits? Why don't you be honest and admit that your goal is not to help others get out of the investment, like it's any of your business, but to be the site whiner seeking importance in the spotlight. You bounce to DV and then come back here with your petty reports of "look what I heard as the fly on the wall at DV". So don't speak of growing up. I missed that part earlier, I have never owned a single Dinar and saw through the scam from the start so I have no reason to be frustrated or embarrassed. The only reason I am so determined to expose this scam is because of what I have seen happen to other people including a relative. There is no shame in being a victim however, lot's of folks fell for it at first, the shame comes when people cease to be simply a victim and cling to ignorance by refusing to see the truth when it's right in front of them!

You hit no nerves with me, I have been laughing at your childish antics from the start! Lol!

      Delete
    8. Oh please!! If I didn't hit a nerve you wouldn't be so persistent about responding to my post continuously rather than just letting it go. You can call it "laughing at my antics" but inside it's burning you up so be real. GIVE IT UP!!! MOVE ON!! Stop getting so offended. You just want to have the last word. I'm gonna be the bigger person here and ignore any other posts from you on this topic going forth because you can't seem to find the shutoff switch.

Btw, don't be so emotional when you can't folk like your relative to see the reality in the investment. They have the information, they refuse "to see the truth when it's right in front of them!" because they are adults and though it may hurt others around them it is their decision in the end. You can not change what others will not allow you to assist them with. Not everyone will see things as you do because that is part of an imperfect world. Just let it go......

I challenge you to go back and look at your first post and then look at what you have posted since and tell me who looks angry here! I have no reason to get angry over posts from people like you but I almost enjoy leading trolls into exposing themselves for what they truly are and you were almost too easy! In just a few posts we have established you as having zero creditability with your childish rants and while your anger and frustration are all too obvious from the yelling in your posts you still have the gall to try and make it look as if it's me that's being angry! YOU have been doing all the yelling and ranting while I have been laughing my ass off at at you the whole time!

From his first post it was obvious he came here to troll and his subsequent posts bear that out. It was almost comical watching him try to portray me as the one in a rant when he was doing all the yelling, He even tried to pretend I was upset by creating imaginary situations that he told me to "to get over", Lol!

The guy had a lot of nerve to come here and criticize everyone with his first post and then do EXACTLY what he accused us of doing by posting those childish rants, I love it when a troll gets caught in his own trap!

    12. Well I was just making a suggestion that perhaps he was trying to trap you in a worthless conversation which to me seems like he succeeded because you kept responding to him. 19. Can I post this Iraqi TV the dinar is artificially grossley undervalued and international experts agree that the IQD will spike in value in the near future. Has anyone here done any research on Basel 3 banking- because this is what I think may lead to the RV of the IQD

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why do you keep posting the same stupid lies over & over? Iraqi TV isn't saying "the Dinar is under-valued vs the USD", they're saying the market rate of 1220:1 may be a little under-valued vs the pegged 1166:1 rate.

As for "Basel 3", all you're doing is throwing around the same stupid slogans you've overheard someone else say and trying to see what "sticks" as to your imaginary "RV". Basel 3 has zero to do with the value of any currency, it's all about reducing leverage ratio's, requiring banks to set aside increased % of capital for risk weighted assets – up from 2.5% (Basel 2) to over 7% (Basel 3), and increased liquidity requirements to avoid the recent problems of banks over-stretching / over-leveraging.

Sam posted the summary link for you before which you ignored because it didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. So here it is again:-
      http://www.bis.org/bcbs/basel3/b3summarytable.pdf

And here's a good summary video (10 mins long) that dumbs it down as far as possible:-
      http://vimeo.com/59895335

As for your laughable "well respected" link, LOL, as Sam said, the whole article is nothing but a gibberish collection of every already debunked guru lie going over the past 3 years. The UST doesn't hold "3T Dinar" this figure was fabricated claim openly debunked in the court documents on the BH Group who openly admitted they made everything up. EO13303 has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the Dinar. The Kuwaiti Dinar neither changed in value vs the $ nor "RV'd" - it got frozen at the same rate.

All this has been explained to you over and over in previous topics complete with sourced links openly debunking it. Either you are the most stupid person I've ever met, or you are trolling again...

    2. You must think if you throw around a bunch of obscure references people will think you know some "secret". Basel III, fiat, M2, IMF, global currency reset. It's all ridiculous. The only thing you need to know (that you inexplicably continue to deny or ignore) is the money supply of Iraq. 85 trillion currency units are not going to be substantially revalued. Ever. Under any circumstance. Basel III is meaningless. It's another ridiculous red herring. It's another smart sounding word that people like you use to convince people there is something magical or mystical about currencies that only people that understand Basel III can possibly know. Why is it so hard to accept reality? Is it too painful to leave the imaginary world in your mind? There will never be a substantial, overnight revaluation of the dinar! It is an undeniable, irrefutable, mathematical certainty. Talking about Basel III or HCL or IMF won't change it. It's just jibberish to distract people from the truth.

    2. Well respected by whom? This article is a collection of pumper BS and nonsense. As you can see I commented on it a year ago. This article is absurd. It states that the Clinton “surplus” was funded by the Kuwaiti RV after Desert Storm. But there was no RV in Kuwait, and even if there was that was in 1991 and the article’s own chart shows that the Clinton “surplus” didn’t materialize until 1998. The fact is the turnaround in 1998 was directly attributable to the internet revolution of the late 90s that produced an economic bubble with hundreds of unprofitable dot.com companies operating on capital provided by speculative investors. That created a temporary situation where unemployment was as low as 4% which produced increased revenues to the government. When the bubble burst and people were laid off those revenues dried up and the deficit returned. The article further states that Bush and Cheney said the war would pay for itself which is also a myth. It goes on to say that people feel that the Vietnamese dong’s value should be around 5 cents. The VND’s M2 is over 3 quadrillion. If they were to revalue to 5 cents that would increase their monetary base from around $150 billion to over $150 trillion which is more money than currently exists on the planet. Then it says that IMF calculates that the value of the IQD should be around $2, but it doesn’t even address the current money supply of 30 trillion outside of banks and 73 trillion in the M2. And finally, it states that the US government is holding 3.5 trillion IQD, which is not only unsubstantiated but now completely contradicted by the US Treasury in the indictment of Brad Huebner and Rudolph Coenen.

Iraq Bombings Strike Markets And Funeral, Killing Scores

    SINAN SALAHEDDINAP01/15/14 09:03 AM ET

BAGHDAD (AP) — A wave of bombings across Iraq striking busy markets and a funeral north of Baghdad killed at least 44 people Wednesday, authorities said, as the country remains gripped by violence after al-Qaida-linked militants took control of two cities in western Anbar province.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks. Insurgent groups, mainly al-Qaida's local branch and other Sunni militants, frequently target civilians in cafes and public areas, as well as Shiites and members of Iraqi security forces in an attempt to undermine confidence in the Shiite-led government and stir sectarian tensions. The deadliest attack struck a funeral in the town of Buhriz, about 60 kilometers (35 miles) north of Baghdad. That bombing killed 16 people and wounded 26 inside of a mourning tent, a police officer said.

The funeral was for an anti-al-Qaida Sunni militiaman who died of natural causes two days ago. The Sunni militia, known as the Awakening Council, was formed by U.S. forces during the height of the insurgency. They are seen as traitors by al-Qaida's local branch and other militant groups.

In Baghdad, a series of bombings killed at least 28 people.

The deadliest attack there took place in the northern Shula neighborhood, where a parked car bomb exploded in an outdoor market, killing five shoppers and wounding 12, a police officer said. In another nearby market, a bomb killed three civilians and wounded 10, authorities said.

A car bombing in the nearby Shaab neighborhood killed four civilians and wounded 14, officials said. Another car bomb in a commercial area in the central Karrada area killed four civilians and wounded 14, police said. A car bomb in another part of Karrada killed two civilians and wounded 10, authorities said.

In Baghdad's southern suburb of Hussainya, a car bomb killed four civilians and wounded 11 in a market, officials said. In the capital's eastern Palestine Street, a car bomb killed three civilians and wounded 10, authorities said. Another market bombing killed three civilians and wounded eight in the eastern Maamil area, police said.

Medical officials confirmed the causality figures. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.

The army and allied tribesmen have been fighting al-Qaida's Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group around Anbar's provincial capital, Ramadi, and the nearby city of Fallujah. The militants control the center of Fallujah and parts of Ramadi, a major challenge to the government and its forces two years after the withdrawal of U.S. troops.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki urged Anbar tribal allies to continue fighting al-Qaida in a speech Wednesday.

"The tribesmen should take a firm stance in order to expel the terrorists from their areas so that peace would prevail there," al-Maliki said during his weekly televised address.

Also Wednesday, the World Health Organization said the cities of Ramadi and Fallujah have acute health needs due to the conflict. The organization said it has dispatched 2 tons of medicines and supplies.

"There is an increasing number of patients suffering from injuries which, if not treated, will lead to irreversible damage," the WHO's Iraq representative, Dr. Syed Jaffar Hussain, said in a statement.

Violence has escalated in Iraq over the past year. Last year, Iraq saw the highest death toll since the worst of the country's sectarian bloodletting began to subside in 2007, according to United Nations figures. The U.N. said violence killed 8,868 last year.

At least 288 people have died in violence across the country so far this month, according to an Associated Press

    1. Why is it that somehow I'm getting this guy feeling that gurus will eventually devise an absurd storyline with all of these killings lowering the population in Iraq as an increase per capita which will translate to iraq being wealthy equating it to a high exchange rate for the dinar.

  24. Moderates hard to find as Iraq deteriorates

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki promised as much, and pledged an inclusive system for all. Power-sharing politics and making all Iraqis -- Sunni, Shia, Christian -- feel they shared national values. Now, there a plenty of Iraqis who believe he had his fingers crossed when he said such things.

Just over two years ago, I watched as the last of 110 or so U.S. military vehicles crossed the border from Iraq and into Kuwait -- the same border crossing I'd gone through in at the start of the war in 2003 with a U.S. Marine convoy headed to the Iraqi capital.

I've had nearly a dozen trips in between and now here I am, back in Baghdad. The city feels much the same as it did during some of those other trips -- and that's not a good thing. Actually, it feels worse.

READ MORE: Are things worse than ever in Iraq?

The U.S. departure may have ended the war for Americans, but for Iraqis, the violence, the bombs, the shootings and the torrents of blood barely skipped a beat. A lull here and there, periods of what might (for Iraq) pass for stability, but really, the deaths never stopped. More than 8,000 people were killed here last year, mostly innocent civilians, according to the U.N.

The feeling in Baghdad today is one of dread -- dreading the next car bomb or suicide attack or assassination. The city isn't lacking a security presence -- it is awash in it. Two years ago there were checkpoints, but nowhere near the number we've seen these past days, nor were those manning those checkpoints as, let's say, fastidious as they are now.

Just moving around the city is an exercise in moving from one checkpoint to the next, each manned by young men who themselves, one imagines, fear the next car could be the last one they ever inspect.

Getting around the city is as difficult as ever. Traffic jams are a way of life here, but they seem worse because of the security presence. Check points and police posts are everywhere, but they can't stop every attack -- eight bombs have gone off in Baghdad in the past two days as I write this.

    1. CONTINUED...

People have to get on with life, and do the best they can. One target of the terrorists is marketplaces, where locals put their lives on the line just to shop for dinner.

Many buildings damaged during the war sit unrepaired, but there are signs of construction too. There's even a mall of sorts being built not far from where we're staying. Many parts of the city retain a tattered feel, like it's a tired city, weary of the tribulations of the last decade.

Public services are a problem -- electricity can still be patchy, there's no shortage of roads needing repair, unemployment is high, sewage systems are in desperate need of repair. Iraq's to-do list, despite growing oil revenues, is a long one.

In the "bad old days" of, say, 2005-2007, barely a day went by when, sitting in our bureau, we would not hear a boom or gunshots, some dulled by distance, others rattling our windows. One day, a stray bullet pierced one of those windows.

      Those booms are back.

Plenty has been reported about the violence in Ramadi and Fallujah and the resurgence of al-Qaeda linked radicals, but the killing is widespread -- from Mosul in the north to Baghdad to the south of the country.

Dr. Ayad Allawi was Iraq's first post-Saddam head of government, serving as interim Prime Minister in 2004 and 2005. Tough as nails, but a committed secularist, he looks at his country today with more than a dose of pessimism.

"Unfortunately the country is moving on a sectarian road now," he tells me as we sit in his office, hidden behind blast walls and protected by government and private security.

"It was very dangerous to start with, and I warned leaders in the region. (Now) Iraq has started a civil war -- it hasn't reached the point of no return, but if it does then the whole region will burn up."

He points the finger of blame in many directions, from Syria to the U.S. to Iran, but mainly at the man who now holds his old job -- Prime Minister al-Maliki.

      Delete
    2. CONTINUED...

"He doesn't believe in power sharing, he doesn't believe in reconciliation," Allawi says. "He promised to do these things once he became Prime Minister, but in effect he talks against this -- accusing everyone else of being a terrorist, or corrupt, or extremist and so on.

"Authoritarian regimes don't work in this country -- we tried this before and it didn't work. No one sect can rule, no one party can rule, no one man can rule -- we want a democratic country but this is not, unfortunately, what this government wants."

READ MORE: Zakaria on why Iraq is in turmoil

There is no shortage of those who also point to al-Maliki, a Shia Muslim, and his sectarian brand of governing and say his alienation of Sunnis is why al Qaeda-linked fighters could reappear so easily to once again wreak havoc. Extremists thrive on disaffection, and there is plenty of that in Anbar and Mosul and other places.

Allawi is also unhappy with the U.S., saying they have made a "huge mistake" by supporting al-Maliki without also turning the screws on him to engage Sunni leaders and include them in a meaningful way in the running of the country.

"They can support al-Maliki -- that's up to them," he says. "But they should clarify to him that their support is conditional on inclusivity of the political process and respecting the constitution and respecting human rights."

I suggest to him that the Americans have of late been applying some of that pressure, but he disagrees. "Of course the Americans are not doing this," he says. "I don't know if they are pushing, frankly speaking -- I do believe they may pay lip service, but they don't fully use the influence they have as friends of Mr. al-Maliki."

Over the course of more than a dozen trips to Iraq since the war began, I've always encountered angry Iraqis -- angry at the American troops, angry at the lack of services, angry at the insurgents and the sectarian bloodletting.

But on this visit, I've found a hardening of attitudes right down the sectarian line -- Shias who feel Sunnis are al Qaeda-supporting extremists, and Sunnis who tell terrible tales of persecution, exclusion and fear of being detained based on their religion alone.

The moderates who wish to embrace their fellow Iraqi, regardless of sect, are becoming harder to find.

Unfortunately it looks as if this is what is going to happen and all the arguing about Iraq doing/not doing this or that is all going to become a non-issue, the harm and suffering caused by this scam is going to be nothing compared to the harm and suffering of the Iraqi people.

  28. A friend of mine went down to SC on Monday. They are part of a group of people who received inside information about a deal where they will get $23 for each Dinar. Obviously this seems like a pretty clear scam to me but how or why? they traveled thousands of miles to go to this meeting. Said that the head of Sallie Mae? was there and they have to sign a nondisclosure form so they can't talk about it. They are supposed to get their money today and Obama is going to make an announcement later.

I understand that this is a scam but they won't listen to any reason. Im just curious if you have heard anything about this and if so how does this scam work? how will they lose out? They have been sitting in a hotel room since Monday night.

    Please help or advise

    1. If your friend actually went to SC and handed their dinars over to someone and expects to get paid the next day, I'd expect the scam is simply that they will never see their dinars or that person again.

    2. Hi Ashley. The same thing has been going on in Reno, Nevada for over a year now. The victims are convinced that they will get a better exchange by cashing in early, but they don't actually cash in. They hand over their dinar for something like an IOU and then the douchebags abscond with the dinar where presumably they exchange them for USD. If you can get 10 people to give you 2 million dinar each that would come to about $17,000 before fees. Not a bad haul.

    3. Simple solution here, report it to the authorities, this is an outright swindle and the perps can definitely be charged!!

Something like this is in no way the same as the usual on-going Dinar scam which unfortunately is operating on the edge of legality and seems to be immune from prosecution (at least so far) but what you are talking about is not even a grey area and is clearly a theft in progress, report these B-tards before they get away with your "friend's" Dinar!

  29. Ashly I truly hope you do call the police and the sooner the better! If however the Dinar has already been handed over and the victims have been waiting for two days in a motel then they will probably never see it (their Dinar) again, they may as well be sitting there waiting on the tooth fairy. These perps may still be in the area however and that group may not be their only mark so it's possible the police just might be able to do something, it's worth a try but otherwise these guys, and the Dinar, are gone for good!

You have to be a complete idiot and moron to give a total stranger your dinar and expect to get paid "later". What logic do these people follow that is different from the bills in their wallets? Because I would venture to say that they would not do the same with their USD.

I'm sorry to say but it is nothing short of pure greed of these dinar holders that fuels these conmen to continuously pursue these acts. Conmen are no good without prey (suckers) just as drug dealers are useless without junkies. It is a simple law of supply and demand though sadly this demand is greed which the dinar investors supply a WHOLE LOT of. Personally I do not feel bad for people who fall for BS like "Sallie Mae" or "Obama" will pay you later. The same cats that are fleecing the citizens of this nation.

If the adults of this nation don't use common logic how are they to educate the younger generation? SMH....

  32. Hi guys, I have a question for whoever wants to answer it.

I lurk a little over at dinar vets and I was reading a little exchange between two members.. Zul, and Lopster_Stew.

I just going to post one of Zul's comments that interested me.

    He said,

"Guess what, if Iraq lop, they will have 30 billion dollar worth of dinar. That's not even half of what they used to have 23 yrs ago, before 1990 ($75 billion dollar). when their population was around 17 million people and inflation was about 5 times less than what it is now.

As to how much cash does Iraq need..../ well..definitely a lot more than just 30 billion dollar worth of dinar.
The money supply of a country is determined by the workings of the their economy...not by what % of worlds cash.

Now that they are not deleting the zeros (rumors), they can increased the value of their money to whatever amount that works for their economy."

How would you guys respond to that?

    Thanks

    2. Not exactly sure what happened to my post but here's what I was trying to say under that quote,

Steve think about it, how much is 30 Trillion Dinar worth now? Before or after a LOP it will be worth the same in Dollars

      Delete
    3. The value of the currency after a lop would not be $30 billion. It would actually be about $70 billion. But it's a meaningless point.

If Iraq lops (redenominates) the dinar, they have the exact same value AFTER the redenomination as they had BEFORE the redenomination (regardless of what the value is). By definition, the value does not change. Therefore, if the value of the currency after the lop is $30 billion, the value before the lop had to be $30 billion. If the value of the currency after the lop is $1 then the value before the lop had be $1. They have no more (or no less) money after a lop than they do before. They might have fewer notes that have more value per note but the total value of all money hasn't changed. A lop changes nothing. It's a simple algebra equation. 5 will always equal 5. 1 will always equal 1. 30 billion will always equal 30 billion. It's amazing how incredibly difficult that seems to be to grasp for some people. These clowns are trying to convince people that 4 plus 1 may equal 5 but 3 plus 2 actually equals 9. It's nonsense. It's the magical world of dinar math.

  33. Here is Lopster stew's post that Zul was responding to..

"Thanks for the Iraqi civics lesson Zul. You really got me on a big screw up didn’t you? I said Parliament, when it’s really the Finance or Economic Committees (which I did mention) which are part of Parliament. I’ve been shamed.

Did you catch the part in the article that stated they had to deal with exchanging 35 Trillion dinar if they adopt the delete 3 zeros plan? As informed as you are, I’m sure you are aware that all the cash in the world right now, dollars, euros, dinar, pesos, yen, yang, all the others, all combined they total about $6 Trillion.
If Iraq doesn’t adopt the redenomination/delete 3 zeros plan, and do nothing about the 35 Trillion number, how much do you think they could RV those 35 Trillion dinar to. $1 would give them about 6 times more currency than the rest of the world combined. Think Iraq could have 6 times more currency than the rest of the world combined? I’m sure you also know Iraq’s economy equals less than 1% of the worlds economy. It’s about 3/10 of 1%. If you have .3% of the world economy, what % of the worlds cash do you need?
Guess what. The 35trillion dinar is worth $30 billion. That’s .5% of the worlds cash. Looks like it pretty much perfectly in line where it is. .3% of the world economy, .5% of the worlds cash."

    2. A couple of things. When the article says "exchanging 35 Trillion dinar", that is I think physical currency, or M0. The electronic dinar (that part of M1 or M2 that is not in M0 or another 40T or so IQD) is "exchanged" easily, its the bills that are a bit of a hassle. Its the entire money supply (for Iraq without much of an advanced financial sector mostly M1) that is the life blood so to speak of an economy, not just physical cash. After a RD the value of the money supply is unchanged (as DMW was pointing out). So clearly since that value is working fine now, it will continue to do so after a RD.

      Delete
    3. Steve, first of all, Iraq's money supply is actually around 85tn Dinar ($73bn). And a quarter of a century ago, their money supply was nearer $20bn. IQD Inflation also doesn't increase the $ value of the Dinar's money supply, it simply dilutes it. 85tn Dinar (Iraq's true money supply) @ 1166:1 rate = approx $72.9bn worth. Post-lop it will be 85bn Dinar @ 1.166:1 rate which still = $72.9bn worth.

"Now that they are not deleting the zeros (rumors), they can increased the value of their money to whatever amount that works for their economy." is total "RV Guru" gibberish. If they want a stronger Dinar vs the $ (which they don't - they want a STABLE Dinar), they have to hold a lot more $ as CBI reserves which they're also not planning to do.

      Delete
  34. Steve the IQD post redenomination or LOP (removing three zeros from the currency), whatever you prefer to name the process, would need to have the rate of exchange increased to $.86 per dinar however, that does not increase the overall value of the dinar. Just think in simple terms where the three zeros from the notes would need to be removed IN ADDITION to the three leading zeros of the exchange rate meaning that .00086 will become .86 as well as a 10,000 IQD will become 10 IQD. The value calculated is the same pre and post LOP / RD. Now could it go to $1?? Sure, but more than likely it will be in the very distant future once the money supply has been adjusted to the proper levels as well as their reserves to back the money. So don't look at it in terms of the current triple zero notes exchanged at $1 or even $.86 because that just does not jive economically and certainly not basic arithmetic. It's a quite simple concept which has been blown out of proportion in the craziness of these sites spewing stupidity.

He managed to divert the sheeple anger over to the government now as he told his sheeple that the RV started ,but that wealth managers have been told to only do their wealthy clients. Sad, sad that people still believe this guy, but I have to hand it to him, he's one of the best con artists I have seen. BTW, I am a Clinical Psychologist, I am gifted in listening to a voice and knowing exactly what is being said in between the lines. Some of them are even talking about taking up arms to punish these whales and elite that are already cashing in. That is very scary to me because some of these people, in their comments, seem like the type that would do that. And over what, something that is not happening, could never happen, and will never happen. We actually had to throw someone out of the bank yesterday because he was screaming at the top of his lungs that he wanted to cash out his dinars, he had heard that other people were doing it and he had lots of money in our bank so he should be treated as a whale. He just would not listen and could not be convinced that we did not handle dinars and there was no such thing as any one cashing out. He gave our security people quite the hard time.

    2. Actually no I have been involved with two other ones. However it seems like the In-The-Office tantrum is rare, the people who are taking the brunt of this our the associates in our call centers. One of my best friends works in one of our call centers and he takes about 20-30 calls every day asking stupid things like "Do you deal in dinars", "Do you have an exchange rate for dinars" and the best one is "Why have you not sent out any 800 numbers for dinar cash ins". Now there are probably 300-500 people working in that call center alone so imagine if each one is getting that many calls what that does to the department. The problem is that each one of those people have goals for selling and cross selling so the more time that is taken up with these stupid calls the less time they have to meet their goals. They also open accounts over the phone and that has become a problem because now they have to dig deeper than normal to make sure the account is going to stay open and not an account for dinar stuff, because if the account closes within a certain time they get a hit on their goals. I really feel sorry for him

  40. I get the feeling that Ashely's post was one of those "SWIM" posts commonly seen on certain forums and it was she who was sitting in that motel room wondering what had happened. I feel sorry for some of these people because no matter what we may tend to think the fact is some folks are simply that out of touch, not all are simply stupid and greedy it's just that they haven't a clue how currency works nor do they know anything what-so-ever about world affairs. A Church "Pastor", someone posing as a representative from a financial organization, etc could easily gain the confidence of these people and pull them into the scam. A local couple, in their 80's, that I learned of through my cousin"s "contact" (the same @$$#*!! who got him into this) is a good example, these people were casual acquaintances that were about to be bilked out of what little money they had but my wife and I managed to explain about the scam before it happened! This is only one of the incidents that got me actively involved in debunking this scam but unfortunately most of the folks I have talked to have either already spent their money or simply won't listen to the facts, two others however did so I feel my effort has not been wasted.

  41. Hi! I'm still here :) actually i was busy with life because i am not the one down in SC waiting for my money. Update: They won't tell me exactly where they are because it is all so secret so i can't call the police which is frustrating. They said they haven't given anyone their IQD yet (not sure i totally believe that). On Thursday they were supposed to get their money but then were bumped because important people and politicians were ahead of them in line to cash out. One of them came back this weekend but the others stayed. Said they have a contract in hand. They have been down there more than a week now. still nothing. My big question is… if they really haven't given any money over then how does this scam work? why are they just making them wait in a hotel room for a week. I don't understand?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hard to say. I suspect they are trying to talk them into turning over their dinar for "safekeeping" or "validation". If they do, that will probably be the last time they see them. The safekeeping receipt or other contract they are provided in return will be bogus. It's simple thievery. If your friends don't turn over their dinar, I suspect their "contact" will disappear into the ether soon never to be heard from again.

      Delete
    2. There is no "secret" Ashley. That's all part of the scammers confidence trick act. No politician or anyone else is "cashing in". The Dinar's value is exactly the same 1164:1 rate it was last year. And the year before that. And the year before that, etc, as you can see for yourself here.

It sounds like either they've already handed over their cash and are waiting for their $ (and kept strung along with a made up delaying tactic sob story of "powerful politicians", etc). Let's think about that for a moment, would a powerful politician meet a nameless, faceless stranger in a hotel room just to change up a few banknotes they can easily just get the US Embassy in Iraq to exchange it (or even sell them on Ebay)? LOL. If they've already handed over their cash, I wouldn't be surprised if the people have already done a runner and are just telling them to "hang in there" via a disposable mobile phone to maximize their "getaway time".

Or, the scammers are still trying to get them to hand over their $ in exchange for a made-up "official looking document", they're refusing and the scammers are getting nervous the longer it drags on and are now not showing. Either way it's still a scam and the fact they've spent a week waiting in a hotel room speaks for itself as to something being seriously wrong somewhere...

Maybe you should contact the one that came back early asking what happened and why he didn't hand over his Dinar? Presumably the "alarm bells" in his head were loud enough to see sense through the blinding greed and he refused but the other did and are now waiting on their "million dollars" to arrive? I've heard attempts at "hard" scams before where people have been invited down to exchange Dinar and then have basically been robbed / given fake "receipts" / "contracts", etc. But because they've been indoctrinated to believe "it's all a big secret" and have been conditioned over months / years to possess an almost "expectation addiction" to see someone walk into a room with a briefcase of $3m "any minute now", it can take some quite a while to figure out they have been robbed. And depending on the sum, even then some may not report it out of pride / embarrassment / shame.

I don't know what else to say except contact the guy who did came back early and seriously ask him what's wrong?

      Delete
    3. Ashley, if it's true that none of them have turned over their dinar you should ask what personal information they provided? It's possible that they're also being set up for identity theft.

      Delete
  42. I can't answer that one. Maybe it relates to just what is in this "contract". i.e. If they have signed a legal document with some sort of obligation perhaps the scammers will try and use that somehow. Though contracts signed under false pretense are not valid so I don't see what they gain there.

There is the possibility of just being setup for a traditional robbery as well (e.g. this puts several people with a few 10s of millions of IQD worth a few 10s of thousands of dollars even selling it back to dealers, in a known location). That is if they brought the physical IQD with them, which I assume they did. But maybe the robbers just got cold feet or something.

I suppose its also possible that whoever set this up is just some sicko who enjoys playing with folks "oh look we can make them all go spend a week on a hotel".

Wish I could be more helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ashely it's good to hear that it's not you that's down there, I started to suspect it might be when it appeared as if you might not be coming back.

Anyway it's possible that not everyone in the group is willing to just hand over their Dinar and if that's the case their skepticism may have saved them from this swindle, at least so far. It sounds as if the scammers are trying to wear them down and convince them they will lose out if they don't go along with the game and hand over their Dinar but the fact is they will lose if they DO hand it over! Unless they can be convinced to hand over these notes then the scammers can not get away with anything so a few hold-outs that are unwilling to let their Dinar out of their sight until they are paid will cause the scammers to drag out the swindle until they can be convinced. If you talk to your friends again tell them under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should they turn loose of their notes no matter what these creeps tell them! They will undoubtedly be told that they are being unreasonable and that their skepticism is going to cause them to lose out but try your best to convince them to stand firm!

There is absolutely no doubt what-so-ever this is a swindle in progress since NO ONE ANYWHERE is "cashing out" for ANY amount (and never will but that's a topic for another conversation)!

Another concern is for your friends' safety! They are obviously dealing with criminals here and there is no telling how far these individuals might go and whether or not they might resort to violence if it becomes apparent that any hold-outs are going to be unwilling to budge, to me this would be a real concern and all the more reason to get the police involved! MAKE NO MISTAKE HERE! This IS a swindle and a theft IS in progress! There simply is no other outcome since there is no possible way these guys are honest and will be returning with a cash payout!!!!

    1. Ashely ask him WHY would China or anyone buy Dinar at such an inflated price when other dealers besides TD are still selling at the old prices? Then ask why the Chinese would be trying to buy from individual U.S. citizens at any price never mind the grossly unreasonable price the scammers are talking about! A foreign country that wanted Dinar (they wouldn't but let's assume they would for some reason) would be obtaining dinar from ME banks and other legitimate sources instead of trying to deal with individual citizens for the relatively small amounts they might have! This all beside the point anyway, China or any other country wanting Dinar for "oil credits" is simply absurd!

Quote, "He is a smart guy"

You and I have a serious difference of opinion about that statement!

      Delete
    2. Ashley, "Oil credits" is complete & total guru nonsense. The USA imports only 226k barrels of oil from Iraq each day. That works out to just $8.2bn per year. In order to "support" a completely stupid $85,000-$300,000bn mythical "RV" ($1 to $3.5 "rates"), it would take 10,365-36,585 years to sell enough oil. China isn't buying masses of Dinar either. All these claims are just guru lies designed to sell more Dinar to the gullible who know nothing at all about currency's.

"He is a smart guy and I don't understand why he would believe this."

Greed is a tremendously powerful blinder. When the "promise" of $1-3m being "given" to you in exchange for handing over $860 worth of banknotes is on the table, many can end up convincing themselves of quite literally ANYTHING. I agree with DaveD & jrg - it's bad enough being scammed out of paper money, but make damn sure they don't hand over their bank account details!

  45. The whole "oil credits" idea is a pumper myth that countries will buy such things using dinars and get a deep discount, but why would Iraq want to sell its oil for Dinars, it wants dollars, and why would it sell oil at anything less than the market price? Its all nuts.

You statement that "He said that they will see the money in their account before they leave the meeting" means they will be logging into their bank accounts, i hope they are using a laptop they brought with them not a computer provided by the scammers.

    1. I just don't get how it how could anyone, no matter how blinded by greed, be convinced that ANYONE would be willing to pay 23,000 times the rate Dinar dealers are STILL selling it for?????

When TD was unable to fill orders a few days ago and announced a merger the idiots over at DV being true to form were delighted and saw this as more "proof" of the imminent "RV"! By there reasoning it was very obvious that "something was afoot" and the big players were buying up all the Dinar drying up the supply so TD could not get enough to fill orders, never mind prices remained the same at other dealers and they still have plenty to sell! My whole point is that I just can't understand why people don't ask themselves why even dealers would be selling at the normal scam rates if ANYONE was paying thousands of times that much? Oh but that's a secret deal! Ok then why are they paying that grossly inflated rate when they could buy the same amounts or more from dealers for thousands of times less?

      Delete
    2. That was supposed to be by THEIR reasoning not "there" reasoning!

Damn spell checker got me again, just like a lot of the Dinar dreamer posts who are always getting "their" and "there" confused!

      Delete
    3. An account number alone is not (supposed to be) sufficient to withdraw funds. After all every check you have ever written has your account number on it. They will need a signed authorization as well (which perhaps they will forge given your signature on another document like this "contract"), or your password (which is why I mentioned to be careful about whose computer you use since if its the scammer's they can easily just record everything you type and presto). So its certainly a good idea not go give out your account number, or open a new account with nothing in it just for the purposes of receiving funds (if there were any funds to receive in this case, which there are not of course).

The bottom line is that since its impossible that anyone is really cashing them out, there has to be something else going on here, and it very likely is about stealing from your friends, either their IQD, or the funds in their bank accounts, or something. And this is all being setup by people who have thought about how to perform this rip-off and orchestrated the whole thing, while your friends are in the dark, so they are certainly at a big disadvantage.

    4. Here’s what happened to me lately. Put my girlfriend on my cell phone account, so she wanted to pay me $50 a month for it. So she set up to transfer from her account in a different bank to mine (BofA). So the bank sent a test transfer, like 50 cents I think. I don’t remember if I had to OK that transfer or if had to provide her some info from the transfer, but one way or the other I had to acknowledge it.
Then over Christmas we went on a trip and I paid for both airline tickets, so she was going to put $700 into my account for her ticket. She made a mistake and hit withdraw instead of deposit. Took us a couple days to figure it out and she corrected the problem obviously, but I called BofA and asked them how this could happen and why they allowed her to withdraw money from my account when I had never and would never give that permission to anyone. The BofA rep informed me that when you allow someone to set up a transfer into your account like we did, it also give them the ability to withdraw. I told him that was crazy and why would anyone ever allow that and he was totally nonshalant and said that’s the way it is.

As long as this particular incident has been going on now I would think the scammers should have concluded it in one fashion or another by now, everyday it drags out increases their chances of being caught. Is there anyone still waiting at the Motel? The friend that returned should know by now that this is a swindle so have the police been called yet? If the Dinar has been handed over it's simply gone, end of story, but if banking info has also been given out then each one of these people needs to immediately contact their respective banks and tell them their accounts have been compromised and then take steps to protect themselves.

There is zero doubt this is/was a swindle, there are no what ifs, buts or how does it work to it!

    6. I remember now how it worked. My girlfriends bank did two test deposits into my account. They were small amounts, less than 50 cents. I had to watch my account and tell her the amounts deposited Once she had those test amounts she could then deposite or withdraw any amount from my account.
So if the scammers have your account number, and a way to monitor your account to get those test amounts, or if you tell them the test amounts, they then have the ability to clean you out.

    7. Right David, this is often called "linking" accounts and indeed once ok'ed by both ends it goes both ways. But for example you can give someone your account number to do a wire transfer and that does not allow them to withdraw anything. You definitely have to be careful. Or just give them your email and have them use Paypal (it has a $10,000 limit per transfer but no limit on how many you can do).
