You Can't Con a Con

The strongest lure used by scammers and con artists is the lure of instant wealth or extraordinary profits, thus the old adage "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is".  Many dinarians (myself included) suspended our disbelief long enough to fork over a few hundred or a few thousand dollars on the chance that this could be the exception to the rule.  The con artists on the other hand took a different approach.  They saw the con, and they wanted in on it.  Over a billion dollars has been spent by speculators on dinar, dinar services, and dinar related products.  When you have that kind of money changing hands you better believe the criminal element shows up, and they're not buying they're selling.

Here's the typical scenario.  Scammer #1 starts a dinar forum.  (I'm not calling all dinar forum owners con artists, but let's face it - many are.)   He starts pumping.  And pumping.  And pumping.  "The Kuwaiti dinar RV'd and made millions for the people who were smart enough to buy it at the right time.  Don't be left out with the Iraqi dinar like those who missed out on the Kuwaiti RV!"  "Bush said the war would pay for itself because he and Dick Cheney planned all along to revalue the dinar!"  "We have confirmation that the lower denoms have been printed and are stored at the CBI awaiting the RV!" blah blah blah .... pump pump pump .... all lies of course, but people believe and buy.  Oh boy, do they buy.  They buy dinar.  They join VIP.  They pay for intel.  They buy books.  WOW!  What a gold mine!

So now scammer #2 sees how much money scammer #1 is raking in and says "HOLY $#1T!!! I want in on this!!!"  So what does he do?  Well he joins the forum and starts posting.  If there's a chat room he goes in there.  He starts gaining the confidence of other members.  Then he starts sharing his "intel".  "You guys don't know this, but I have a friend who is a contractor in Iraq.  We don't talk very often but the other day he calls me up out of the clear blue and says ..... (insert BS here)."  The next time he shows up everybody is quizzing him.  "Have you heard from your friend again?  Any news?"

In no time this guy has a following.  He starts exchanging emails with some of them.  Scammer #1 sees what Scammer #2 is up to and bans his a$$, but it's too late.  He's already got a following and they have his contact information.  He starts his own forum and his believers follow him over.  Before long his site is bigger than Scammer #1's site.

Enter Scammer #3.  Rinse and repeat.  After about four years of this you have literally dozens of sites doing innumerable conference calls with gurus galore.  Some of them are rate and date types.  Some are forex guys.  Some talk economics.  Some start pitching other products like health supplements, trusts, cookbooks, investments opportunities, or some MLM scheme.  Some "explain" the RV process.  Some are experts on Iraqi law, politics, history, or religion.  All scrambling for a piece of the dinar pie.  (Again, not everybody who comments on the dinar is a scammer, but many are.)

And after all of these posts, all of these chat sessions, all of these conference calls, and all of this great intel and analysis where are we?  Since 2009 the IQD has moved from 1170 to 1166.  All that work for 4 pips, folks!  Think about it.  If you own a million dinar your profit from this movement is a whopping $3, and that's before you deduct any dealer markup or shipping fees.  If you own a billion dinar as SteveI claims your profit is roughly $3000 before markup and fees.  (Brilliant move there Steve.  You're out $20,000 - $50,000 you could have made in a more conventional investment.  But I digress.)  The money supply has gone from 25 trillion to 35 trillion despite claims throughout guruland that they're reducing the money supply by removing the notes with three zeros (another pumper lie).  The government is still squabbling.  Bombs are still going off.  There is absolutely no reason to conclude that anything substantial is going to happen any time soon with the IQD's exchange rate, and yet the pumpers keep pumping and the buyers keep buying.  New gurus pop up nearly every week.  Why?  It's the lure of the easy money.  As long as people keep buying the scammers will keep scamming.

You can't con a con, folks.  But apparently those cons can con millions of people given the right conditions, and the dinar is the perfect storm for scammers.  Easy money.  Conspiracy nut fodder of a new world order.  Religious fanatics baited by the declaration of the fulfillment of prophecy or the supernatural transfer of wealth.  A troubled economy providing hundreds of thousands of desperate people.  And a generation of internet junkies who can't seem to pull themselves away from the computer long enough to get a life.  A scammer's paradise.

The more I dig the more I find out about the biggest names in the dinar world, the more convinced I am that they're dirty, and the more determined I am to see them exposed.  Stay tuned.

Just wanted to throw my two cents worth in for what it's worth. I am definitely not selling any of my dinar. I am very confident that this RV is going to happen and I feel it will happen soon. Wish I could share everything I know but the three letter guys are watching too close. I am still buying dinar too whenever I can. If things change financially and I have to sell my dinar. They will be the last thing I will sell. I truly understand why some people had to sell early due to bad economic times. I pray that you will be able to buy your dinar again. All I can say is for everyone to hang in there if you can. This RV is coming.

    Blessings,

    Ray

Did the infamous desertdog make the guru [three letter guys] innuendo
or did I miss something? That comment is more sickening then asking OKIE if his parents had sex before his birth.

    2. I do not know who this desertdog is but this is not the first site that I have seen this person on saying the same nonsense pumping Dinar sales. On another forum he was posting that he saw the new notes for himself and he has info that he cannot tell people that etc. This person is obviously out on some pumping mission.

Is it possible that this Ray is the same Ray that runs with steveI? It is sad how desperate some of them are actually starting to look... I almost feel embarressd for them...

    3. I hate to say this, but it's almost getting to the point where I no longer feel sorry for the people who continue to believe the crap spewed by these gurus. I just hope that potential new investors find sites like this before deciding to purchase.

And, I am sitting here actually getting mad that desertdog expects me to believe that the "3 letter guys" have nothing better to do than monitor his posts about the dinar.

  9. Ray's handle is "desertdog" over at PeoplesDinar, and yes, he and SteveI are supposedly pretty tight. Ray says he has contacts in Iraq that are inside parliament or something like that.

These guys know absolutely nothing about anything. Steve claims to run a christian site, but he has a temper tantrum every other day complete with swearing and banning members if they make mention of a LOP. A banner on the top of his page sells lingerie and hats. Apparently all the proceeds go to charity.

    1. Thank you frothbucket! That is what I thought. I had a feeling that this was the same Ray that was making the rounds lately. I have never seen him outside of the PD site, but I have seen him in a couple of places outside of there this past week, which tells me that he is obviously concerned that more people are becoming more aware of the stories that are made up by people out there, and he is out there on his Dinar site tour to try and create some more hype about it.

This steveI and Ray are complete frauds in my opinion. The nonsense about him having contacts, and knowing people I do strongly believe are flat out lies, and nothing that this Ray says can be verified as truth.

    3. I am going to go out on a limb here, but my guess is that this was a lie as well. I would like to see him provide some documentation to prove that this was a real company, and a company that he owned. My guess, he will not, and cannot provide such documentation. I hate to sound cynical, but let's face it, he does not have a history of telling the truth, so he certainly does not get the benefit of the doubt with me any longer. As you stated as well, he and Ray are certainly true to form of Sam's description above.

  10. Just want to say thank you for this site and for exposing these frauds. I was naive enough to get sucked into this "investment" a year ago but have suspected for many months now that this is a scam. After seeing the pattern of guru BS, fake intel, calling the RV week after week with no believable explanation as to why it didn't happen, it seemed pretty obvious that something was amiss. I began doing more homework, REAL homework, and once understanding how currency actually works, it became quite obvious that these gurus have no idea what they are talking about.

Seriously, how can someone like Okie call it over and over and over, destroying his credibility (apparently not to his loyal followers) without getting some sort of kick back or monetary gain out of it? Who would put themselves and their reputation on the line again and again, only to be proven wrong again and again, if he or she weren't gaining something from it? The answer... NO ONE! NO ONE would do that! You would learn your lesson and shut the hell up, unless you have some sever mental disorder or serious dementia, OR are financially profiting from it. Okie is probably a very rich man by now. Of course, not as rich as the dinar dealers... unless he is one... think about it.

    Again, thanks for this site.

    3. It is a ploy, sound more ridiculous than james wolf's bs, it makes them sound more reasonable and believable. I was also duped (my own fault) into this investment. I started at ptr and bh group becuase that is what my friend showed me first. After learning about the douchebags tony renfro and dan atkinson both scammers and dan a criminal, it did not take me long to question them, let the bh group irs raid be a testament to the truth all in itself. There were always site "members" who would always tell me I belonged at dinar vets becuase I was negative, I just was seeking the truth. Well after being booted from ptr I went to dinarvets to vent. Not long after realizing that site is just another place to sell me worthless services. If not all sites, most work together to have a site that accomodates certain perceptions or opinions and they are well versed after 9 years of RV'ing. The dealers are top tier, these sites are just second or third tier marketing forums, pawns if you will but make no mistake you can see which dealers support the sites. Think about okie as that commercial with that bad song you just can't get out of your head. That is their goal, drive traffic to the more reasonable sites because okie is a baffoon intentionally, as for the few people that might believe him, all the better for the dealers.
Sam, how about including the dealers for potential douchebag awards and maybe we can start exposing them and bringing them to the forefront of this discussion as they are the one's driving this whole sham, they sure don't mind if we focus on their cronies. Its like starting a fire a block over so you can distract everyones attention while you rob a bank.

  12. Guys - as easy as a cult formed in favor of this investment, there is also a cult mentality that will develop and blind those against it. I have traded currency on a technical level and taught for many years and there is nothing wrong about owning any currency unless you know for sure it will DECREASE in value or you have better investment opportunities. Many have made money off this investment but unfortunately all the donkeys involved make this investment seem like a scam or simply a joke. YOU FOLKS MUST GET THIS - CURRENCY IS NOT A SCAM - PEOPLE CAN SCAM YOU BUT THE CURRENCY IS JUST AN INVESTMENT in that country. I have sold 90% of my accumulated dinar I bought 3 years ago for a nice return - I bought dinar because I didn't want my cash reserves in dollars and the upside potential was good.

I enjoy this site and I appreciate everyone's efforts to expose the morons, but keep it in perspective as far as the word "SCAM" is used because it makes no sense at all to say the dinar is a scam. No more of a scam than the USD or the GBP.

Thanks for all the great entertainment Sam - I love it, keep up the awesome work!

    1. Yes, but when gurus are out there on their sites telling people that there has been an in country RV for a couple of years now, or when they say that it live on the bank screens, the UST is on lockdown and that the RV rate is about to be released, or when they are charging people fees for investment advice when their credentials are made up of lies then it is a scam. I agree that investing in currency is one thing. However, influencing people with false information and profiting off it is something I have a major problem with. Watching people get taken advantage of because they are so desperate in their lives for something better is sad to watch. When I see these gurus making up blatant lies while hiding behind fictitious names, I have no problem exposing these people for what they are - frauds. So to all the scam artists out there - Blaino, Jonnywg, Okie, Miskebam, Bulldog75, Frank, Fresh, Wang Dang, Adam Montana AKA James Wolf etc, it's open season. The gloves are coming off.

    2. Thanks for the support. While I agree that the dinar itself is not a scam (provided you buy authentic dinars) the basic sales pitch is fraudulent. The idea that a currency can revalue at 100,000 - 400,000% is absurd. As John Jagerson told us the largest RV in history was China at 31%. Usually currency revaluations don't move the rate more than a few percentage points. If you got in on the IQD early enough you may very well have ended up in a profitable position because of the many adjustments the CBI made to the exchange rate while getting inflation under control from 2006-2009, but most people bought after the rate stabilized around 1170 and are still in the hole. Add to that the fact that if Iraq lops the dealers could very well disappear and leave IQD holders up a certain creek because the banks don't deal with it anymore. Anybody who is in a profitable position at this point might want to consider taking their profits and moving on.

  13. Furthermore - lol, I understand when and how markets get manipulated everyday and I also understand that economics 101 doesn't come into play anymore. The financial system is crumbling while at the same time it is being artificially supported electronically. I get a big laugh out of listening to supposed economic professors, they know what they are saying unfortunately it doesn't apply to reality, it was taught to them as an excuse for the reason things are the way they are. I wouldn't be surprised to see the dinar fall and I wouldn't be surprised to see it gain quickly - it has little to do with any information released for public consumption (pro or con). Many moons back would have a person believe the dinar couldn't get any worse than it was - this was true and had many buying dinar as a safe investment and it is still true today - the question about the dinar is how long your USD needs to season as dinar before it is worth the investment position. My guess is that the dinar will have small increases over the next year or two....provided a meteor doesn't come screaming towards us offering us sweet relief from all the lunacy.

  14. I agree Sam - it just seems the talk is negative about the dinar when the dinar is just a currency. The buffoons that say RV tomorrow should be hung out to dry like you are doing. I don't know what will happen to the dinar and I understand what is going on just as good as anyone outside the gov/money makers. It would be a shame if WE make the dinar out to be a scam and it turns into a good investment. I don't want to see you feel bad that it was a good investment - 100% is very doable over the next 2 years and folks should know this - not just the extreme negatives or the over hyped RV entertainment that is harming good people that need help financially.

  15. If you need to sell for a small loss that is one thing - but to my knowledge - unless Iraq goes rogue on us...lol, then the currency will always be good or worth the rate it is at that time. I see no threat in the dinar being worthless to any dinar holders as long as they are under the advisement of the IMF and within the current Central Banking system. If the above changes you need to sell ASAP any dinar you have at whatever price someone will buy it.

    1. The only area where are a little incorrect here is in regards to the IMF. The IMF has supported the idea of a redenomination, therefore even while under the advisement of the IMF, they can redenominate, and we will potentially then be left holding the bag, with a bunch of worthless currency that you will potentially not be able to give away. Of course, even if they redenominate, we can be hopeful that a dealer out there would be willing to take our dinars from us, and funnel it back to a gov't bank in Iraq (the CBI has stated only the Gov't banks would be doing the exchanges from old to new notes), where they can then exchange them for new notes for us. Even if they were willing to do this though, I am sure that this service would come at a rather hefty price.

Now a dealer has recently said that he would exchange them for us in a a recent interview I believe, but you have to ask yourself this, is there anything legally binding that requires him to honor those words that he will definitely still be in business come the time that they may redenominate, and if so, that he would be legally required to provide this service for us, especially if Iraq should close the borders to all existing currency coming back into the country post redenomination? My thoughts are that there are no legal obligations, therefore you are left with just hoping on trust of dinar dealers words. Not a smart and recommended way to invest your money in my opinion.

Point being, regardless of them being under the advisement of the IMF, there is still substantial risk, as long as a redenomination (process of deleting zeros) is still something the CBI desires, and to date, even though recent articles stated that the CBI has been asked to halt all efforts on the redenomination until further notice, the CBI themselves have not yet responded publicly that I am aware of that they will no longer pursue this plan they want, therefore, this remains a HUGE threat, and that "until further notice" can change at any given time.

  16. Does anyone know for sure the dinar is not a scam? Sure, it's a real currency, and sure, we're legally allowed to investment in it, but are these the only things not making it a scam? How do we know that the Iraqi government and the CBI aren't in on it? You can't tell me that they aren't loving the fact that American investors are pumping billions of dollars into their country. I find it interesting that they keep suspending the plan to "delete the 3 zeros." Doesn't that keep money from investors flowing into the country?

A lot of people on this very site believe that Iraq will RD and then close the borders making it almost impossible to exchange our dinars for the new denoms. Can anyone say for sure that this is not Iraq's intention? And if this is Iraq's intention, then the dinar is a scam.

  17. @Reeder -

To believe the IQD is a scam is nuttier than thinking it will RV overnight at 1000%. It isn't Iraq that set up this system - you really need to understand why currencies exist and who owns the system itself. If you want to know the truth - ALL currency is a scam , but it needs to be an organized scam - you can't just have one country say "I'm not gonna go along with you guys". They simply can't do this or they won't be able to function outside their own borders. Iraq may wanna drag their feet for 50 years just to screw some dumb ass dinar holders but I don't think they are that dumb to sacrifice their own country in the process - but maybe I'm wrong.

    1. You might think it’s nutty… but there was an article by an Egyptian journalist years ago that claimed to have contacts (I know, sounds like a pumper) who were in on meetings between the CPA and the Iraqis where they talked about pumping the dinar out to other middle east countries with the rumor of big returns. They figured the more people holding dinar… rooting for Iraq to recover… that would garner support in the middle east for the entire Iraq operation. The dinar was used as a phsy-op plan.
I don’t think they ever thought it would turn into a world wide phenomenon… that was just a bonus. The sales of dinar refilled their FX reserves. There was another article years ago that talked about Iraqi revenues. Of course Oil was number one. The number two revenue generator for Iraq was… you guessed it. The sale of dinar.
Now… it also is a legitimate currency.

I will find the Egyptian article… I posted it years ago on a board and will try to find it. I’m going to play golf, so it might not be until later.

    6. With 35 trillion dinar outside of banks that means that roughly 1 trillion dinar is held by speculators using your 2-3%. Personally I feel that it's at least twice that amount, but assuming that you're right that still means that speculators would cash in their dinar for $1 trillion USD upon a $1 RV. Hard to characterize $1 trillion as "nothing" or "a little blip".

If the IMF cuts ties with Iraq...(and they will if they don't do as they have been instructed) then you can bet the end of currency control by the elite is on it's way out. I don't see that happening unless many other countries do the same and start their own "IMF" in a sense. If Iraq/China/Russia and a few others that don't care for the US controlled plan decide to trade with each other and value their own NEW currency then we have a catastrophic event that we likely won't survive in whole and the least of our worries would be some stupid investment.

    1. No doubt about that. The fact is though, I would doubt that this would ever be a likely event, since they need us, as much as we need them to carry our debt. If that were to occur though, then yes, the results would be much more devastating than what this investment would lose.

That said though, I still go back the fact that when you say "if they don't do as they have been instructed", and the IMF has supported the plan to redenominate, so this is not a concern of Iraq's. If the Gov't should pledge their support and give the CBI the green light to print and introduce the new notes and the exchange plans of old for new notes, and then begin the exchange process a few months later, then as far as this investment is concerned, we will have officially lost. This is still a major threat, as the IMF has never stated that Iraq cannot follow through with this plan, so the IMF is certainly no roadblock if they have any say in the matter.

      Delete
  19. JP - you are assuming you know the plan, when I'm assuming I don't - they keep these things confusing for a reason - there will always be a bad investment and a good investment side to anything of this nature - if they were to re-denominate like I know you support then you would need to understand the multiple meanings of the word and it's effect on the currency - so even if they RD I'm more interested in how it is handled and then I can assess what it means to the dinar investment. Again I don't have any idea what the plan is - but I can tell you that you don't either lol. So we need to be careful when we word things as fact when what is said and printed may not be fact as it is interpreted. The word smiths of currency aren't just some clowns that graduated with honors - these meanings were cleverly crafted long before my great great grandpa was born. Iraq stated waaay back that they would protect their wealth at any cost - this means flat out lies and deceit are fair game. This is a wait and see - and while we do lets hang the schmucks that are taking advantage of desperate uneducated regular Joes and at the same time be courteous and real about the investment itself.

on a side note - all these morons claiming the US and other countries hold dinar and want this to happen as bad as we do don't understand it is internationally illegal for governments to own foreign currency for investment/gain on the back of another country and this should be obvious to anyone with common sense. If this were true many countries could get bought out and owned by hostile takeover in a sense. There is good reason why there is no such thing as insider trading for currency - the only people that know anything already own the money.

  20. I understand where your thoughts are there, and don't blame you. Frankly, if there is some deep hidden, top secret plan of an agenda with this currency that we are not aware of, that would be great, but I do doubt it to be quite honest. I can say this much, I definitely do not "support" a RD, because that would likely result in us losing money, and I would never support a plan for that, and I also think that it would not be in the best interest of Iraq considering the risks involved with the process of a redenomination. It is also obvious that members of the Gov't share these same concerns as well, which is why they have asked the CBI to hold off on any plans to do this until further notice.

All I can say though, is that clearly the CBI wants to redenominate for the few reasons quoted by the CBI, and they have not yet responded publicly to the requests that they do not do anything further. I admit, I am definitely not much for conspiracy theories, so I tend to take things at face value based on information that is in front of us, and the information in front of us most certainly points to a RD at some point or another. I do not know the "plan", nor do I know if any secret "plan" outside of what the CBI has been quoted as saying, but I do feel I know what the CBI wants to redenominate, they wanted to introduce the notes in September, and then begin the exchange process in early 2013 (probably Jan) at an exchange of 1000 old for 1 new dinar. I also can say that they have stated that only the Gov't banks would be doing the exchange as well, therefore the CBI will not be shipping any of those new notes here to the US where they will be able to be exchanged. This creates an easy assumption that if you want to exchange your old notes for new notes to wait out the dinar as the rate hopefully slowly grows, then you will either need to take a trip to Iraq to make the exchange, or find a dealer that will make that trip for you.

I agree though, let's definitely be courteous and real about this investment in the meantime though, and in doing so, then I think that it is ok to hope that the CBI acknowledges that a RD is not in the best interest right now considering the corruption there, and then decide to never RD. Then we can wait and see where the rate goes over time from there as it will hopefully slowly grow. Hoping for anymore than that at this point is simply not being realistic, and telling anyone more than that is realistic in a ploy to create hype to sell dinar, or dinar related products and/or services, is where the scam really is.

  21. LOL - I'm a moron? I'm just trying to help unlike yourself - it isn't illegal to hold dinar my silly little friend it is illegal to gain from it as in an RV - I don't have time to look into the IMF bylaws but since you have the time to show your immaturity and ignorance perhaps you have time to dig for information to help in your education on the matter. I wont hold my breath however, I know your type.

  22. Reeder - you are like my wife LOL - I didn't say you were a nut good grief, do you really operate like this in your daily life? I referred to the idea of it being nuttier - come on don't be so damn sensitive.

All currencies are a scam comment wasn't a good one to make - you would have to understand the purpose of currency and the design it has for control over the population - the value of the currency scam needs to be real inside itself in order to work. Maybe too complicated to understand in a post - my bad.

  23. Curious about this statement you made CT LLC "I have sold 90% of my accumulated dinar I bought 3 years ago for a nice return" How is that possible with the dinar has moved less than 1% during that time? If you have made a profit then you must have sold it for more than its value...the only way to do that is for someone to believe that it will be worth more in the future than it is now and the only way to buy it is to pay a premium for it...THAT IS THE SCAM...it is not just a currency it is one that people present as a get rich quick program so people will over pay for it...so the currency may not be a scam but those who are profiting are duping others into thinking it will increase in excess of 100,000%.
